Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, I've had a passion for news since the 8th grade. Like any good public school system does, I was tossed into a Media Arts class because nothing else was available. Thanks to a dedicated teacher who wouldn't give up, I quickly learned that broadcast television, specifically news, was where I wanted to be.
I started my actual television career in Reno at a very small, but beneficial, home jewelry shopping network. Although the company only lasted a year, I gained the experience I needed to land my first job as a part time production assistant at the CBS affiliate in Reno, KTVN. I'd earn an EMMY Award as a producer in Reno and six years later land my dream job at the nation's largest duopoly, KCBS/KCAL in Los Angeles as an assignment editor focused on "CBS2 News This Morning".
